Brennan's birthday was nice. We went to an Irish restaurant for dinner and then got his big boy bike. A Mickey bike. It only took him a few days to figure it out and the other day he rode it to the playground, then to O'Neills, then home. I was so proud of him!!! He looks so cute with the nerdy Thomas the train helmet. He loves it.
Shane's such a big boy. He's slowly using sign language but hasn't picked it up totally. He has his 15 month well check next week and I'm thinking she'll refer him to speech just like we did with Brennan. He points and makes his needs known sometimes. He understands too. Only says 'Mama' at times but not to tell me anything. He just says it so I don't know.
We had Nana's burial in Arlington this past weekend. Gretchen, Jimmy and the boys came and stayed with us on Saturday night and we left late Sunday morning for Washington DC. It was chaotic to say the least! Shane only slept 45 minutes on the way down there, Brennan didn't sleep at all which is okay. But not for Shane!!! Dinner was crazy because they were so tired. They went to sleep fast and slept through the night which was nice. On Sunday we went to the American History museum which had a whole section on trains, cars, buses, etc. Brennan went crazy. It was cute.
Monday was the actual ceremony for the burial. Mom, dad and Moira got lost getting there so my poor dad missed the service!!! But in reality, it was only 5 minutes of prayer. He said he wasn't too upset that he missed it. He got there right as it ended. We were able to hang near the casket so dad got to see it. Below are pictures of the casket; it may sound morbid but I like having them. It's not open!!! I got choked up when Brennan went up to the casket to touch it. He had no idea what the deal was with this box but it was symbolic to me.
We went to Chef Geoff's for lunch. Another chaotic time as Brennan was starved and it was Shane's nap time so it was not fun. I hardly got to see my family but in the end, it was a nice time and was nice to get out of this house and do something different!!! On the ride home, Ryan asked how we are going to do this with 3 kids! I don't know either.
This weekend is Easter already. I work Good Friday, we go to Andersons on Saturday night, I work Sunday morning, then my parents on Sunday night. I have to get baskets together still.
