New Years Eve

We are staying in tonight. Shane went to bed at 6:30 and Brennan is watching Mickey as I type.

I forgot to mention that Shane had his first nonverbal word on the 29th! He signed 'ball' when he heard my mom say it. Now he does it whenever we say it. He watches the Baby Einstein sign language video some mornings when I shower. So smart!

We had a great 2010. Now,2011 will be great too because a little baby will be gracing us with his/her prescence at the end of July. I still can't believe it!

Christmas

Shane's first Xmas was great. Although i think it was the best day of Brennan's life thus far! Brennan had a fever on Xmas eve but quickly recovered thanks to motrin. The next morning, we had to wake Brennan up and Shane slept till 8:30! Presents all day.

Shane is off formula and bottles. He transitioned so well to sippy cups. He sleeps great now on his own. As I write this, he is asleep with a fever. We were supposed to go to massachusetts tomorrow but i don't think that'll happen.....

Ryan and i bought ourselves an iPad so don't mind all the mistakes!

It's been awhile...

Well, it's been slightly busy here along with some unexpected news. More to come on that...

Shane had his first meeting with Santa on December 4th. He hated it! The picture is cute, if I could scan it, I would. Brennan wouldn't go anywhere near him.

Recently when someone sneezes, Brennan says, "Ah chu." He thinks we say that (when we say, 'bless you'). So funny.

Shane's been taking more steps by himself but is unsure of himself. He's getting there!

I've been trying to transition Shane to 1 nap b/c his naps are so sporadic and short. He's done by 11:30am which makes the afternoons long b/c he still doesn't sleep that long.

Brennan's doing great in school. I can't remember the last time he cried. Got his school pictures back. They are really good. He's the only one not smiling in the group shot. Of course!

Went to Toys R Us on Sunday. Mob scene. And we had both boys. Brennan saw a remote control firetruck and that was it. He was so good, he let us take it and then I distracted him by taking him to another part of the store while Ryan paid. I told Brennan I'd call Santa and ask him to get him that truck. In the car, he eagerly reminded me to call Santa. So I did and Brennan was happy with that. Yesterday, I went onto portablenorthpole.tv and Santa had a special message for Brennan. He loved it. His face lights up when Santa says his name.

Ut oh..just heard Shane. He had an hour nap. That's it. Great.....

Penn State weekend

Mimi, Pop and the 4 of us went to Penn State (or as Brennan called it - Penn Steak) this pas weekend. We left Saturday mid-morning and came home early Sunday. We walked around campus and on College Ave. Brennan got a frisbee at the store and went to play with it in front of Old Main. We went into Moyer's Jewelers and they had 3 golden retreivers in the store! Shane loved them. He went over and petted one of them that was laying on the ground. The dog was so gente and let Shane pet him while he wagged his tail. It was so cute. I took lots of pictures of that.

For dinner we ate early at the Corner Room. Made a total mess but the boys had fun. Brennan gave me a very hard time going to bed. Shane went down easily because he was so tired. Then they were up most of the night. It was tough.

Ryan, Mimi and Pop went to the Rathskellar for drinks after the boys (and I) went to bed. They were out til midnight. Mimi got sick on Sunday morning (wonder why??). Went to The Diner for breakfast. Brennan had his usual, pancakes. I gave some to Shane and he seemed to like them. Mimi had to stay at the hotel to get better.

On Friday, I took the day off. Nana was in the hospital for pancreatitis so we went to see her. She definitely wasn't feeling good and Brennan got upset because he didn't like to see her sleeping. Then we went to Applebees for lunch and Target. It was a busy Friday and a busy weekend. I'm so glad I visited my school. There are so many memories from up there, I was glad I got to go. Next time I'll have to get Beth and Debby to go!!!!

5th Anniversary

Ryan and I had our 5th wedding anniversary on Friday. He surprised me by taking me to NYC to visit with Beth and Russ and we went to my favorite restaurant of all time - Wolfgang. It was amazing! We stayed at the Courtyard Marriott a few blocks away from Beth's apt. We had so much fun. The boys stayed with Mimi and Pop and they had a great time too.

Mimi cut Shane's hair today so I have a few little snipits of his hair. Brennan was fine with us leaving - he was too excited to play with Pop on the tractor to be upset.

I am off this coming Friday and the weekend so we are going to PSU with my parents. It'll be the boy's first time going. I can't wait. Still trying to talk Beth & Russ into going!

Parent/Teacher Conference

We had Brennan's teacher conference yesterday. Went really well. He's doing great and she said he's come a long way from September. He interacts with the other kids and participates in everything except dancing. Says he doesn't like to dance! So funny. He dances at home to the Fresh Beat Band though!

He gives Robert a hug daily and he seems to be his 'best' friend at the school. No hitting the other kids and comes to comfort them when they are hurt or upset. Very proud of our mister!

We went to Sabo's today for a little. Kristen put on her wedding video to show Emma - Emma loved it and wouldn't take her eyes off the screen. Brennan saw me and Ryan and said he didn't like that we were a princess and a prince!!! He wanted me to call Ryan and tell him not to be a prince anymore!! He talks about princesses a lot these days.

Shane's finally getting over his cold. He's moving all around, loves to climb the steps. He hasn't been sleeping great - today he was up at 5 and took a morning nap from 8:15-9:45. I'm going to put him down again soon. Recently, Brennan's been sleeping more than Shane!

Erin Gibbons babysat yesterday for the 1st time. Brennan was not happy when he woke up from his nap to find her here. Shane was fine with her. Fortunately, Ryan came home 15 min after Brennan woke up. He told her to go home!!!

Shane walked!!!

Today, while I was at work, Ryan called to tell me Shane took his first steps with the walker. He did it for me a little this afternoon too!! Ryan got in on video so I'll try to post.

Shane's been so sick with a really bad cold this past week. He hasn't slept much so on Friday morning, Ryan went in to get Brennan and put Shane in Brennan's bed. Shane laid down and went to sleep while Brennan was still in there!! He was exhausted. He's never done that.

I took him to see Dr. Limmer on Thursday night b/c I thought he had an ear infection. He was pulling on the left ear again but not seeming to be in pain. She said he had some fluid in both ears but no infection. He seems fine now. I hate paying money when it's nothing; at least it's peace of mind.

Last week, Brennan had a 'beesh' (binki) in his mouth. He knows he's not allowed to have one during the day. So he put it in his mouth, unbeknownst to us and covered his mouth thinking that if he did that, we wouldn't know he had a beesh in his mouth. So funny.

I am working both days this weekend. We got a new dishwasher and a new outside light. Exciting. Ryan's going to the Eagles tomorrow so it's another busy weekend!!

Happy Halloween!!

Halloween was yesterday. Shaney was a very cute turtle and Brennan was a gorilla (but wouldn't wear the face). Had a busy weekend as always. I worked in the morning and then got ready for Halloween in the afternoon. Brennan slept til 5:30ish and was MISERABLE when we woke him up. Didn't want to do anything. On top of it, Brennan and I are both sick with colds. Shane was great. We went to 3 houses on our block then drove to O'Neills. My parents came for dinner.

Jack was a jack-o-lantern and Annie was a Halloween fairy. So cute. Uncle Moose, Jack, Ryan and Brennan went to a few houses on their block. Then Brennan perked up and didn't want to leave O'Neills. It was fun.

Halloween at preschool!

Well, Brennan went as a gorilla today to school. Still isn't thrilled to go to school at all but once he's with Mrs. Vincent, he's fine. Today, he ran over to her and showed her his costume. He even let her put on his 'face' and take a picture with her. Then they had a parade in the school and the parents were allowed to stay for that. It was so cute. Of course, Brennan was holding Mrs. Vincent's hand the whole time. He just loves her. 

I forgot to blog about Shane's 9 month well check last Thursday. He's only in the 11th percentile for weight and 75th for height!!! He long and skinny just like his brother. I took both boys alone and Brennan was good. He was so quiet once Dr. Limmer came in. She said Shane is above average physically :) He was such a good boy. When he got his flu shot, he screamed and so did Brennan. He doesn't like to see Shaney upset. 

Brennan's been a bit difficult lately to put it nicely. A doctor I work with gave me a list of books I have to look into. Time out is not working anymore although I still do it. I think he could be in it all the time :P

Tonight, Ryan and I are going out to dinner with the O'Neills and Kristen. Marc's grandfather is really sick and he's out in Ohio visiting him. I met him (his gf) at their wedding. He is so funny - I think the funniest older person I've ever met. Well, they told him he was going to hospice. His response - "Oh no, I know what that means!" Then the nurse asked him if he had a DNR. He looked at her and said - "I kind of like living!" Omg so funny. Even at this stage of his life. I hope I can have that kind of humor when I'm his age.

Busy weekend

I had to work both days this past weekend. Fortunately I only worked in the morning. On Saturday, Ryan took the boys to the Philly Zoo with his parents and Aunt Kelly. They had a great time; Ryan said Brennan was scared to get next to the lion. He was right up against the glass! Some kids were dressed up in their Halloween costumes and Brennan got some M&Ms. At the end of the visit, Brennan & Ryan went on a train ride.

Saturday night, we went to Mimi and Pops; Brennan & Shane had dinner with them and Ryan and I went to dinner at Pizza Time. Even though it's a pizza place, it's just nice to not have to worry about the kids at a restaurant!

After work on Sunday, I picked the boys up from my parents and went straight to Brendan Magee's christening in NJ. We missed the mass but met up with everyone at this fabulous Italian restaurant. The food was awesome. We sat with the Strangs. We were having fun until the end when Brennan threw a toy car at Carter's face. Ryan and I were mortified!! I don't know why he did that. He was in a bad mood for the whole afternoon. He gave us a lot of trouble going to bed last night too.

Last night I was able to order Brennan's scrapbook off of Snapfish. It's of his first year. Can't wait to see it.

Weekend

Haven't posted in a little bit....not too much going on. Brennan still doesn't want to go to school. It's a struggle every Tuesday and Thursday to get him ready. All morning he says he doesn't want to go then at times he'll say he wants too. Still the only kid that cries going into the classroom...
Had a busy weekend. We went to the Fanz's for dinner on Saturday night. Brennan had so much fun. Dave drove his truck onto his lawn and had Brennan give him sticks from the truck. Brennan was in heaven. They made a big fire and dinner was so good. On Sunday, I worked and Ryan dropped the boys off at Mimi and Pop's. I picked the boys up and then my parents and Moira came for chili dinner.
I am stressing out currently because Pop can't watch the boys on Tuesday afternoons anymore. Moira may be able to if she gets this job she's interviewing for. I emailed Gwynedd Mercy College to see if they would put up information for an education or nursing major to come babysit the boys. Waiting to hear.  
Spoke with Nana Gould on Sunday night. She's doing well. Got home from the hospital 2 weeks ago. She is dying to see the boys. She hasn't met Shane yet. I think we'll go up on New Years Eve.
I think that's it for now. I have to pick up Brennan from school soon :)

Shane at 9 months!

Shane was 9 months yesterday. But as a present he had an ear infection! We took him to the pediatrician's yesterday and she said it wasn't a bad infection but I started him on the amox anyway. He seems good now and hopefully he'll nap today. Poor guy!

Ryan's golf weekend

Have had a very busy weekend with Ryan at his annual golf weekend with the guys at the shore. The boys and I went shopping for clothes for all three of us, got a cookie treat for Brennan and then got a ball for Brennan and a toy that sings for Shane. They were so good, I decided to spoil 'em!

Then Aunt Kelly came over to stay the night and help me Sunday morning. I had to work. Brennan threw a fit and didn't want me to go to work. He wanted to come with me to work. Shane has a cold (his 3rd in a month) but he was good as gold. Kelly called me at work to tell me something was wrong with Shaney. I heard him screaming in the background. She gave him Tylenol and I called Katie to come check in. By the time Katie got here, he was fine. He cried again (like he was in pain) after I got home and he didn't sleep well either. I'm thinking ear infection so I drive all the way out to Lansdale for the CVS minute clinic. I put in all our information and it asks me for Shane's DOB. I put that in and it says they won't see any patients under 18 months of age. Great. Meanwhile I told my parents I'd pick them up from the airport.

I called Uncle Peter and he came over, got Brennan and went to the airport to get them. Shane seems okay so I may wait until tomorrow morning when Dr Limmer's office opens. If he gets real bad tonight I won't hesitate to take him to Abington ER.

On a happier note - 2 funny/cute things happened today. I read 'Goodnight Moon' to Shane today for the first time. He sat on his knees on the floor and kept looking at me while I was reading it. His little face beamed - he is so precious. Then I told Brennan he was going to McDonald's for dinner so he tells me he's going to the barn (huh?). Then he says, Old McDonald had a farm with a barn! He associates McDonald's restaurant with the song about a farm. So funny.

School

Brennan did great today with school!!! He said a couple of times before we left that he didn't want to go but never cried about it. Then we got dressed and he said he wanted to go to school. He went outside and got in the car, no problem. He walked himself into school; unlike other times I had to carry him. He was excited and went up to Mrs Brey (the director) and started talking to her all by himself. He doesn't have school again until Tuesday but I hope that today shows he is ready.

Shane had some pieces of egg today. Exciting :P He loves to look outside and we played outside a little today before naps.

I am so blessed to have these 2 precious boys in my life.

First Blog

This is my first blog. We went to see the Strangs today and Nicole told me about blogger. Thought it'd be a good idea.

Brennan started school 3 weeks ago and it's a work in progress. He's the only kid that cries. Tuesday was his best day yet and he said today he wanted to go tomorrow. We'll see how that goes....

Shaney is all over the place. Ryan said that last night he took 2 steps with the walker. On Sunday he stood unaided for about 2 seconds. He'll definitely be walking by 1. He waves too and claps although the waving is new. So cute.
