Our new routine

Brennan's doing great now, no tears, no guidance counselor! He rode without training wheels for the first time today!
He memorizes books with Mrs Cannon and brings them home every day. She says that's fine and it gives him the boost he needs to think he's actually reading.

Shane's doing great at school but he's a challenge at home. Wondering when this will pass....

Owen's been sick with a cold he can't kick. He's pretty spirited too. I can't understand a lot but I can understand some and he tries. He's back to naps as per Dr Tomaine. We pick Brennan up every day at 3 so I always have to wake him up. Some days he's just not tired so he won't nap. Very attached to me at the moment. He gets nervous when Mimi or Pop come because he thinks I'm leaving.

I saw this pic of Mary on Facebook today and love it! My goal this year is to become more spiritual and to bring my kids closer to God, Jesus and Mary.

Brennan School Updates

He does not want to go to school. Every morning he tells me, first thing, that he doesn't want to go to school. Then he cries on/off all morning til the bus comes. Yesterday, he got on and I saw him smile. Then, I got a call at work from the nurse saying he threw up and to come get him. I asked if he could stay because he was totally fine but no. He was so happy to see me he actually hugged me.

Today, I almost had to drag him on the bus again. I haven't been emailing the guidance counselor or Mrs Cannon because they know what they're doing now. He told me that Mrs Cannon doesn't always let him go to Mrs Alston and I explained that he has to stay in his class and learn!!!! I'm not upset anymore, I'm just tired of hearing how he doesn't want to go. No matter what I say it doesn't matter.

Shane, on the other hand, loves school, goes right in and never looks back!

School updates

When Brennan came home from his first full day of Kindergarten, he got off the bus and looked pale, tired and emotional. Pop picked him up and walked him home. He started crying saying he wanted to go to Pop's house. He was sick with a cold too. He didn't pee all day in school and told me the day was too long.

So he didn't want to go back. On Tuesday morning I had to drag him on the bus. He was crying and I saw another kid his age pat him on the back. Later, Brennan told me a big boy came and told him it was okay and not to be scared :)

I called the guidance counselor (as I had been emailing Mrs Cannon too) and I was crying. She said she would go check on him and call me right back. She said he was happy, laughing, and playing with the other boys. Mrs Cannon said she would email me throughout the day to give me updates. She emailed me a few times. Lunch seemed to be his hardest time - he was crying and wouldn't eat. The guidance counselor came and took him aside to talk with him and he came back to class better after that. I told Brennan I would pick him up that day as he had expressed it took too long for the bus to come pick him up. I also told him that if he went on the potty we would take him to get a special toy.

So.....when I picked him up on Tuesday he was all smiles. He picked out a special Lego toy and went to the bathroom yesterday and only had 'one small sad tear' per Mrs Cannon yesterday. He sat with Jack M at lunch and that helped him fell better. Again, when I picked him up, he was very happy. He takes the bus to school and gets picked up.

For Shane - he went right into school yesterday and never looked back!!! I was told he was good.....

Shane's first day of preschool;Brennan's surgery

Shane had his first day today in the 3 day 3's. This morning's class was with the parents but he totally didn't need me there like Brennan did at that age. He went right in and started playing. During circle time he was raising his hand asking for it be his turn. When it was he said his name and his favorite summer memory was when he went to Nikolaos and Gregory's house and he hugged Lily and Kody. Brennan was too shy to do that!

On another note, Brennan was diagnosed with a hydrocele today by Dr Nance. I have to schedule his surgery but it's a simple procedure. Just feel bad for him!

Mimi and Pop are home from their month long voyage overseas. They had a great time and the boys missed them. Brennan's so excited for Pop to see him off the bus today. I dropped Brennan off at school because of today's appointment. He did great and today's his first full day (!).

So Brennan is off to school! He cried going on the bus last week but not today!

He had a great end of summer. We went to the beach last weekend for the day. We met up with Grandmaur and Grandpop too! Then he spent time with Basil and went mini golfing with Basil. This past weekend, we went to Green Lane Park with the Derstines, dinner at Sonia's and dinner at Emma's!
