Merry Christmas 2013

We had a really nice Christmas. It wasn't total chaos which was what I was expecting. Boys were completely spoiled and got a TON of gifts. I hope they truly are grateful as that's something I want to instill in them.

We went to the Basilica for Christmas Eve mass. It was so special. The feeling of Christmas is most definitely felt there. We had to leave after about 45 minutes because the boys were losing it. We didn't get home from Mark and Maureen's til close to 11!! That's crazy for us because boys are in bed at 7 every other night.

On Christmas morning the kids still got up around 7:30 and Brennan and Shane played in Shane's room til Ryan and I were ready to start the day. Owen was asleep and we didn't wake him. Brennan got a Star Wars Leapster with games, Ninja Turtles remote controlled car and a sticker book. Shane got a light up sword, Vtech game, Hess truck and Dusty Crophopper remote controlled plane. Owen got Jake ship, Hook ship and a sword. We got them Disney Infinity games.

We went to Mimi's and they got a lot more....including big trucks and games.

Lastly we had a great Christmas dinner at Jack and Ann's. Boys were really good too.

Christmas Time

Snow day with Pop

I love this time of year. Last year the Sandy Hook shootings were soooo horrific that it kinda put a damper to my holiday spirit. So this year I got sad again thinking of all those precious 6 year olds again. To help make something good out of it, Brennan and I bought a basketball for a 9 year old boy through our church. Brennan didn't understand why he wasn't getting anything but I quickly put him in his place. I know it's the age but I tried to explain to him that this boy probably has nothing and Brennan doesn't need a thing.

Okay so back to more positive Christmas spirit things. We saw Frozen on Saturday while Owen slept at Mimi's. It was adorable!!! Shane sat through the whole thing and Brennan wanted to be with his Pop so through the whole movie he kept asking when it was going to be done. Humph.

Brennan had a 2 hour delay AND a whole day off last week due to snow! It snowed again on Saturday and will tomorrow too. Crazy. We had no snow last year.

Last Saturday we got our pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus! We had some nerves but Brennan was able to tell Santa that he was a good boy this year and gave him a list!

Today was Shane's Christmas Play at school. He was the Bethlehem Star!

Conferences, Thanksgiving

I had both boy's conferences this past Monday.

For Brennan - she said he's doing great, only needs to work on his confidence when answering questions and problem solving. He knows the answer when he raises his hand but then is afraid it'll be wrong. As far as problem solving, he goes to Mrs Cannon for every problem no matter how small. I told her it's because he doesn't want to upset her. There was an open house at his school last week and Owen and I went. Owen scribbled all over his paper and he was so nervous to tell Mrs Cannon. He said, "you tell her what Owen did." She's so sweet but has a fear of upsetting.

Shane - doing great socially. He has to work on his fine motor skills. He has trouble using scissors. And she asked if he does any coloring or drawing at home and I said no. He never colors or does anything with his hands really. So we need to work on that. The other thing I mentioned was the fact that he seems like a young almost 4 year old. She agreed. So something we'll have to discuss with Dr. Limmer!!

For my birthday this year, Shane wanted to make me a pink princess cake with purple icing. Him and my mom made it together. Super cute!

Brennan lost his first tooth right after I got home from work on Wednesday Nov 27. He was wiggling it and Shane hit his hand and it came right out onto the floor. Then, on Thanksgiving day, he was wiggling the other one and basically pulled it out. I saw in his baby book that the first tooth he lost was the first tooth that came in for him, same for the second tooth!!

Thanksgiving was nice at Tim and Aedin's house. Moira came with us this year while Mimi and Pop were in Massachusetts.
