Trip to Massachusetts

We got home from Massachusetts late on Monday night. We had no trouble getting up or back. It was really nice. Brennan got along great with Nikolaos and Gregory. They had 2 dogs, Cody and Harley. On Sunday morning, the day Gretchen was to have the whole family over for dinner, Harley began having seizures. She was out of it, panting and unable to use her back legs. Gretchen and Nancy took her to the vet and unfortunately, the day of Nana's funeral, they had to put Harley down. Of all days!

Brennan was great with the dogs because they don't 'fuff.' They were small dogs too. The boys got a ton of toys, clothes and toy hand me downs from their cousins. We came home with so much more than we arrived with! The boys were exhausted by the end of the trip.

The funeral was really, really nice. Hardly any tears. My dad gave a nice eulogy and I heard the priest say to him it was the best he ever heard. It's a shame because I didn't know some of the things Nana did until she was gone. For example, she went to work so my dad could go to Prep school and not have to be drafted. I said after the funeral that it's such a shame that everyone she loves gets together when she's gone. Why doesn't it happen when people are alive? I wonder when was the last time she had all 5 of her kids in the same room.

On a positive note, she led a wonderful, love filled life and will be missed.

Shane is walking like crazy, Brennan's basically potty trained if he's naked waist down. Proud of them both!! I think I felt the baby move this past Tuesday night. Love that feeling. It's starting to feel real now. Can't wait to hear the heartbeat next week.

That's all for now!

Shane's officially walking!

This past Monday, 1/17, Shane really took off walking. He looks sooo cute!! Ryan got video of it.

Brennan had a snow day yesterday because of ice.

Nana's funeral was changed to Monday due to a snowstorm prediction on Friday. So we'll leave either Friday afternoon or early Saturday. Ryan has to work on Tuesday so we may be leaving Monday night.

Rest in peace Nana

My nana passed away on Shane's birthday. It was not expected and very sad and guilt ridden for me. We were supposed to leave for Massachusetts yesterday so she could finally meet Shane. I was also going to tell her i was pregnant. Never happened. She once told me, 'i'm dying to meet Shane!' so the guilt is not sitting well. I'm fine with the death of older people especially when they are ready. And she was. If only I could've seen her one last time or called her. I last spoke with her around her birthday in October. We were supposed to go up new years eve but everyone was sick and she was so susceptible to getting sick that we didn't go. Time heals....

She was always funny, fun, laid back and very with it. She always knew the happenings of everyone, even celebrities. Whenever I called, I would say Hi Nana, it's Megan and she would say, Oh Megan! :) She was mother of 5, grandmother of 9, great-grandmother of 4 boys.

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Happy 1st Birthday Shane!!

I cannot believe it's been a year since Shane came into our lives. He is such a good boy and has been a joy.

We had his party on Sunday. It was small but nice. He went to sleep in the middle of it but woke up and some people were still here so he got to play with people other than us! We had his 1 yr pics on Saturday. They are adorable. He loves cake of course. Then we made a trip to the ER because he fell directly on his head that evening and woke up crying inconsolably at midnight. I couldn't calm him down so I took him to Abington. Of course on the ride there he calmed down and by the time we got there, he was absolutely fine. Everyone loved him and it was a slow night there so we got in and out. No tests were done either.

Brennan is starting to potty train all by himself. I haven't had to bribe him too badly. The other day he took off his own diaper and peed all by himself. Today, I was upstairs lying down and when I came down he was all excited to show me he POOPED in the potty all by himself!!!! I could not believe it. He took off his diaper and everything. So funny how happy it makes a mother.

I am starting to feel better. The nausea has really decreased and I'm not as tired. We will hear the heartbeat on February 3rd. I still really have no proof that I'm preggo because I haven't had an ultrasound either. Not until 20 weeks. I'm 11 weeks now. I told my bosses at work and my close friends at work.

We are planning on going to Massachusetts on Wednesday night or Thursday morning but there's a snowstorm heading our way. We'll have to play it by ear. Nana's in rehab again but Gretchen said kids are allowed in. She's never met Shane so I'm anxious to get up there.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHANEY!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE YOU! XOXOXOXOXO
