The county came out on Monday to evaluate Shane for speech and, as we expected, he qualifies. There is no other concern other than speech which is good. So his therapist will be calling me this week to set up a schedule. She will come for 1 hour, once a week. I'm sure this will make Shane's life easier and can't wait to see how he progresses. He warmed right up to the worker - I remember when Brennan was evaluated, it took her forever to draw him in. He is such a good boy and I know he'll do great with the therapist.
During the visit, the speech person asked if Owen had reflux. I said that's so funny because that's what I was suspecting. I took him in right after they left and Dr. Limmer started him on zantac. I think I see an improvement. He was 9lb 7oz so he is gaining like crazy. He now has baby acne and is losing his hair - he looks like a grumpy old man! He sleeps a lot in his swing. That was the best $50 I've spent! At night, is usually up twice, with one of the times being a long time awake. All in all, I think he is a fussier baby than Shane was. It's funny how quickly you forget your children as newborns (or even as babies).

Earthquake, hurricane and a fussy baby!
On Tuesday afternoon, I was sitting next to Brennan on the couch while the 2 babies slept and heard what sounded like someone walking around upstairs. Then I felt the whole house shake. I thought I was crazy or that my house was about to blow up. I ran to the front door and saw my plants shaking. My neighbor was mowing the lawn and didn't even look up. So I thought I was crazy. Then Katie called me and told me it was an earthquake. So weird.
Last night Hurricane Irene came. It wasn't that bad but the news was on 24/7 making a huge deal about it. Other areas got it worse than us but thank god we are okay. Ryan's taking the boys for a walk now to see the flooding down the street.
Owen, Owen, Owen. On Friday night, he was inconsolable in the evening. Same with last night. He stops once we can finally put him to sleep. But it takes forever. Poor guy looks like he is in pain but he's consolable at times too. So I don't know if it's reflux or what. I may call for an appt tomorrow. It could just be his witching hour because during the day yesterday, he was fine. Who knows???
Owen had a weight check last Monday - he was 8lb 12oz. Growing great!! And he doesn't feel or look like a newborn anymore.
Shane has his speech eval tomorrow. I really hope they don't cancel because of the hurricane.

Summer Days
Ryan went back to work last Tuesday and surprisingly, the week went fine (with one exceoption). Owen slept a lot during the day so it made things easier with the boys. I took all 3 of them to Beth T's house on Thursday and it went great! The exception was that on Wednesday, Brennan and Shane got into white paint in the garage and painted my grandmother's bed set that she had when she was 16. It was mahogany and my mom is upset about it. They were being quiet and I was feeding Owen thinking they were just playing in the garage. I went in and Shane was covered in paint. They found 2 of Ryan's paintbrushes too. I hosed them down (while yelling) and gave them baths. There is still paint on the clothes (including mine). Oh well. That's boys, my dad says.
Katie came to visit on Tuesday and Becca came Friday. Beth came Monday. I love seeing my friends!!
I took Owen for his weight check today - 8lb 12oz. Shane said 'Pop' yesterday and will repeat more. The eval is next Monday. Brennan's been great, he is such a help sometimes. I had him 'watch' Owen today when I took my shower. He loves doing that.
Ryan's family came to visit yesterday as they just got home from Ireland on Saturday. Owen slept the whole time and they really haven't seen him or held him. On Saturday, I took Owen to get pictures done because the guy who Becca works for needed a newborn to take pics of. So got them done for free but he didn't sleep like they wanted him to. So it didn't go great. But I'm excited to see what they got.

Welcome Owen James Anderson!
A new love of my life, Owen James, has arrived!!! I was induced on Tuesday, August 2nd. It is Ryan's dad's birthday. We are so blessed.
Pitocin was started at 7:30 and I got the epidural at 10am. The doctor who examined me said I was 1-2cm when I was admitted which is weird. I've learned that every doctor finds different measurements. So I was still at 2cm when I got the epidural. I then progressed to 4-5cm at noon maybe and was there for the longest time. Dr. Becher checked me at 4:45pm and I was finally 10cm. I had to get more epidural at 3 or so because it wore off and I was in excruitiating pain. It was horrible! Plus I was vomiting at times. I got to push at 5:30pm and by 5:35pm (after 3 pushes) Owen was born.
He doesn't look like the boys!! He looks like Owen, per Brennan. Brennan and Shane are doing great. Shane was weird with me in the hospital but now that we are home, Shane seems to be doing okay. Brennan loves him and wants to hold him. Shane gives him toys and hugs him. He was excited to see Owen this morning.
